David Perez is declared the winner in a Golden Gloves fight March 23 against Adam Neil from the Third Avenue Gym in a bout at the Punxsutawney Community Center Gym.

David Perez is the 2013 sub-novice Golden Gloves Champion, a first for the Braddock gym. Trainer Kevin Scott hopes winning will become a tradition there and inspire the community to pay attention to the positive, not just negative, news in Braddock.

Mr. Scott runs the Braddock boxing gym, volunteering three hours a day Monday through Thursday. "Maybe someday I'll get paid for this ... I'm trying to give back to the community and make a safe place for kids."
